Repentance

I saw you there gently weeping
'Neath the willows and in gentle the gentle breeze
While you sat there nearly sleeping
I sat down upon my knees

I prayed never-ending for your repentance given
While you wondered long and deep
But merely to say you are forgiven
Is much easier when you're asleep

When you wake you shall see yourself crying
'Neath the willows and in the gentle breeze
While slowly and slowly you are dying
Yet still shall I sit upon my knees

And hope against hope that you hear my call
In the midst of you tribulations
Before you reach your final fall
In what you feel is your final revelations

Once more you see me, yet you deny me
In front of those whom you think care
But not much longer will sympathy pry me
To do my duty and attempt to be fair

For I am merciful and kind
Yet am I also sadistic
When you realize in sight you look hind
That all my patience, you have missed it

Pray more
Linger less
Stay for
Common sense

Stay here
Far behind
I'll come later
For mine own kind
